The Howth Peninsula Heritage Society has, like everyone else in Ireland, been struggling to cope with the huge impact on society of the Covid-19 pandemic. In line with government guidelines, we have, of course, suspended our monthly lectures until indoor gatherings are permitted again.

In the meantime, we have continued with as much of our other endeavours as are possible, by communicating or meeting online for the protection of committee members. We are keen, however, to resume our monthly lectures as soon as possible and intend to do so also online. With this in mind we offered our September 29th lecture via Zoom technology.

We are also very conscious that our current Society members (2020 paid up subscribers) have so far received only two of our normal monthly lectures. With the September lecture, and maybe others, being offered free then the matter of recompense or compensation arises. The Committee has decided that we will review and address this matter at the January 2021 AGM when we will have experienced the outcome of the remainder of this calendar year. We feel that members will understand that the Committee are doing all that they possibly can to continue to provide a heritage service to the community to the very best extent possible, while always keeping in mind the health and safety of those whom we seek to serve.
